Open Gardens Weekend
Summer Fête & Fun Day
24 & 25th June, 2000

 
Pointer Take a tour round Wymondham, dropping off to visit any of over a dozen open gardens, large and small, traditional and contemporary in style. Family tickets are £5, available from 44 Main Street (opposite the Berkeley Arms) and also at the Windmill, the Sir John Sedley Centre (near the school) and all participating gardeners.

Trowel The gardens will be open from 2.00 - 6.00pm on both days. With your ticket you will receive a guide and map of the village with an entry form to the Treasure Hunt. First Prizes are vouchers to the value of £25 (adult) and £10 (children up to 12 years). Prizes are sponsored by the Grange Garden Centre, Asfordby Hill, who will be selling plants at The Pines, Butt Lane on both days.

Pointer On the Saturday the Primary School is holding a fête and open day and the Sir John Sedley Centre's nursery school will be running a creche. St Peter's Church will be open throughout the period and an art exhibition is to be held in the nearby Village Hall. Old Bakery Antiques is to be open on both days, as is the Berkeley Arms.

Trowel As well as the pub, you'll find plenty of places to stop for refreshment and to answer calls of Nature. There's plenty of carparking, and Wymondham is popular with cyclists. On the Saturday, the Rutland Flyer bus leaving Melton at 11.00am and 1.00pm or Oakham at 11.50am and 2.45pm would allow time for a visit.
