"Miss Gill's Shop" was a hosiery factory in the 1880s, and an antiques
shop for a while in the late 1960s - early 1970s. Her house is set behind
The Manse, and both it and the shop are due for renovation. A pair of old
threshing machines rest at the corner of Chapel Lane, a reminder of former
farming (and business?) practices. To the right is one of several barns found
along Main Street.
On the opposite side of Chapel Lane are the wrought-iron gates to "The
Norfolk Herb Garden" (part of The Bowery, 42 Main Street), alluding to the
Hill family's Space Foods manufacturing business, which operated
in the village for several decades.
