The Old Grammar School is the first of Wymondham's buildings to be seen
when approaching from Saxby and Melton Mowbray, which lie to the west.
Built in 1883 with accommodation for 40 day scholars and up to 10 boarders,
the school was in use for only 23 years. It closed in 1906 and is now a
private residence.

The nearby bridge takes the road over the disused Saxby to Bourne railway
line, which carried passengers from 1884 to March, 1959.
