WI members at Melton Post Office (wi-aqua.jpg, 20.7kB)
HELPFUL: Much-needed clothing was
sent to people stuck in disaster-stricken parts
of the world by members of Wymondham WI
last week.

This is the second time the WI branch has
organised aid as part of a Rotary International
aquaboxes project.

The boxes are stockpiled before being sent to
the places that need them most. They also
have another vital function as they can be used
to purify up to a thousand litres of water, enough
to provide a family of four with clean water for
four months.

WI spokesman Kay Bruce said: “Everyone is
very enthusiastic and we will keep collecting as
an on-going project because we get to help
people in desperate need. It could be anywhere
– from Kosovo to Mozambique, or perhaps
Albania or Sierra Leone.”

Pictured at Melton Post Office with the aquaboxes of aid are
Margaret Lambert, Marion Lewis, Kay Bruce and Gaynor Glenn.
